The Spotlight report on universal basic completion and foundational learning in Africa was launched yesterday before education ministers from across the continent at the ADEA Triennale.

A campaign, #BorntoLearn, was launched alongside the launch, calling on people to show their support for the report recommendations.

Already, the first lady of Malawi, H.E. Monica Chakwera and the first lady of Uganda H.E. Janet Kainembabazi Museveni, and six other ministers of education – Ghana, Rwanda, Somalia, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Zanzibar – as well as the lead singer from Magic System, Salif Traoré, have taken part in the campaign.

You can join the campaign by preparing a photo of yourself signing up for learning by spelling out the letter ‘L’ with your thumb and forefinger.

Send out your photo on your online channels using #BorntoLearn to help amplify the noise around the need to put learning at the top of the agenda.  Some sample tweets to draw from when posting your campaign photo can be found here.

The #BorntoLearn campaign will continue for three years, drawing out the recommendations from the Spotlight report, and mobilizing action at the country, continental and global levels.
